Working with Roadmaps (Standard Version)

Roadmap supports governance by providing the ‘big picture’ view of the Programme or Portfolio. Use  these features to build and navigate your Roadmap view:

Project Selection

Click on the Projects tab to select which Projects within the selected Portfolio/Programme to include/exclude in the Roadmap view.

Search Project

This feature helps you find and position the view on a specific project, particularly useful if the list of projects is long. In the Gantt Chart view, simply click on the magnifying glass icon and select a Project or type characters to be searched for.

Inspect Individual Project

By double-clicking on a Project, the Project app section will open in an overlay window. This gives the user access to all information attached to the Project, including the ability to view the latest Project Summary Report.

Sub-Register View

In Roadmap (Enterprise Version) the Gantt view has an additional section at the bottom of the screen – the Sub-Register Viewer. This shows records related to Projects in the Gantt view above, actively filtered to reflect any selection made there. This viewer can be configured to just show those Sub-Registers that are relevant to your organisation. This could include Dependencies, Issues, Risks, Milestones, Investment, Resource Demand or others. Data can be viewed through lists or charts, some of those can be configured in the view by the user.

Click on any item listed to expand their full record and inspect all information stored for it.

Kanban Board

Roadmap (Enterprise Version) includes a configurable Kanban Board view for Projects (and, depending on context, Programmes and Portfolios). Pick from a configurable list of categories to act as buckets for the view. Certain categories may allow update right in the board, allowing you to drag the card between buckets to make the update.

Double-click on a Project to drill-through.

Click on Compact View to reduce size of each Project.

Additional Features

Monthly/Quarterly View

Adjust the level of granularity displayed in the Roadmap by clicking between Quarterly and Monthly view.

Hover over the Milestones to display more details, even where there are more than one, the details will all be displayed.

Focus Mode

Switch Focus Mode On to restrict the Projects included in the Roadmap view to only those with a Dependency Relationship with the selected Project. Simply click on the Project to select.

NOTE: Click on to reset view back to display All Projects.

Sorting

Simply click on the Column Header to change the sort order of the Projects selected. For example, see screenshot (below) for Projects sorted by Finish Date:

Color by Category

Change the Row Color of the Roadmap using Color by Category to help identify certain aspects relating to the Projects selected. For example the screenshot below shows a different color for each Strategy:

NOTE: Select from Current Health, Current Stage, Project Track, Risk Assessment, Strategic Impact or Strategy.

Organisational Events

Navigate to Administration Menu and add Organisational Events and Event Types (Under the Roadmap Menu) to configure additional Events to be added in the Roadmap view.

Create the Organisational Event Type first, this will include the option to specify a color:

Then create the Organisational Event, selecting the relevant Organisational Type.

NOTE: Multiple Events can be created. These can be added/removed from the Roadmap view individually (using Filters).
