Timesheet Dispute Feature

  • Updated

Power Framework PPM's timesheet module is unique in that it allows project owners not only full visibility of timesheets that have posted actual effort (and resulting actual cost) to their project - they can also be enabled to dispute any values they do not agree with.

Activating dispute feature

The Dispute feature can be switched on or off system-wide via the Owner Dispute Allowed parameter setting.

Initiating a timesheet dispute

Within a project, timesheet transactions can be reviewed as described here.

Each row shown represents an individual daily actual pushed into this project from a timesheet that is clearly identified (by its name, period date range, Team Member name etc.):

If you wish to dispute any individual row, then click the Dispute button shown on the row as indicated above.

Note that this button will be hidden if the Dispute feature is not activated (via Owner Dispute Allowed parameter), or if the timesheet period is closed (preventing any further updates for related timesheets).

Enter a comment to describe why you are disputing this timesheet row and click Dispute.

Finally save the overall project to store this dispute.

'Undispute' Button

For a disputed row, the Dispute button changes to Undispute. Use this button to undo the Dispute.

Timesheet dispute impact

As soon as a single row in a timesheet is disputed, the timesheet overall will be showing a flag of 'Disputed'. When inspecting the timesheet, we see the following:

Disputed Timesheet Reporting

Disputes can easily be identified through relevant reporting.

Timesheet managers should use those reports to be alerted to disputes, then work with respective Team Members to resolve them (e.g. by recalling, correcting and re-submitting the timesheet).

Dispute Resolution

Removing a dispute is achieved either by the project owner undoing the dispute (using the Undispute button), or the disputed timesheet being recalled and re-approved.

Details of the most recent dispute can be be viewed against the relevant timesheet row inside the project, with the status showing 'Resolved' (scroll the column display sideways to see these columns).
