Synchronizing a Model

  • Updated

Purpose of Synchronizing

When a model is created, data of all associated projects and resources are copied to a separate modelling database as a snapshot at that moment.

If the model has been created a while ago, then the data it holds may have gone stale, no longer reflecting the latest state of the resource pool (in terms of team members and capacity) or project data (in terms of projects in the system, their investment and resource demand data).

The Sync function allows you to refresh this data. When the sync is complete, the model 'original' data again reflects current resource and project data.

Running a Sync

To run a sync, click the Sync button at the top of the modelling screen. You will be presented with these choices:

These are explained as follows:

Field Comment
Enabled project Choose if only projects attached to the model should be sync'd
Other projects Choose if only projects outside of the model should be sync'd
All projects  Choose if all projects should be sync'd
Sync capacity Tick if you wish resource capacity values to be refreshed

Click OK to kick off the sync.

The process may take some time to complete, depending on the choices you made (the number of projects to be sync'd significantly impacts the time required).
