Snapshot & Baselines Set-up

Snapshots need to be configured in terms of the data items being included and various other settings.

In addition, individual projects and programmes need to be flagged for inclusion.

Prerequisites

This features requires a SQL database to be deployed and background jobs to be set up. The installation of these will be part of the Power Framework system deployment service.

Snapshot Configuration

Navigate to the Baselines & Snapshots tab in System Settings:

Run Settings

In the top section of this form the following settings are defined:

Field Comment
Snapshot Report Url Enter a URL to define the location of the Power BI snapshot report linked to the Report button in the snapshot detail screen.
Automatic Snapshots
Enabled Set to 'Yes' to enable the automatic Snapshot process. You can stop its execution by setting this flag to 'No'.
Interval (in days) Enter the count of days in between snapshots (e.g. enter 1 for daily snapshots).
Start (Date/Time) Date and time of when to commence automated processes.

Data Selection

The bottom section of the screen allows you to flag tables and columns within them to be included with/excluded from snapshots (of type Baseline and Automatic Snapshot, for Portfolios, Programmes and Projects respectively).

We recommend that you keep the data included to a minimum, this will help to limit the data volumes being accumulated in the Snapshot database.

Please note that Investment Data and Resource Demand data are always included and cannot be individually de-/selected.

Including Projects/Programmes/Portfolios in Snapshots

Projects, Programmes and Portfolios must be flagged to be in included in automatic Snapshots.

For Projects: Navigate to Projects and select a view called Automatic Snapshots

It shows the Automatic Snapshots Enabled field for each Project, you can click into the record within this view and change the value to 'Yes' to include the project in automatic Snapshots.

A similar view is available for Programmes and Portfolios.
