Modelling is all about the creation of multiple potential scenarios and then using data to compare them. Through comparison we identify the optimum 'what-if' scenario that should serve as the model informing the scheduling of our actual project portfolio.
Introducing the Comparison Screen
Click on the Comparison Tab in the Modelling Screen to see this screen:
Here we find various analytics to compare the current model to one other model of your choice.
At the top you find the following controls:
Model Selection
This defines the models that will be compared, i.e. Model 1: Current Model (i.e. the model that you are currently working with) and Model 2 (which you are invited to choose from a drop-down list of active models).
Note the colour scheme of Orange and Blue that is used in the various charts to visually identify Model 1 and Model 2 data.
Sub-tabs Overview/Detail/Data
These tabs allows you to switch between different analytics tabs as explained below.
'Overview 'Tab
On first display the Overview page is shown, which has the following components:
Page selector / + Add page
The area below this control is a page of charts (= widgets) that is configured. It can be divided into multiple pages, each showing a different selection of widgets.
To create a new page click + Add page which will show a new blank page.
To configure a page, click on the Configuration control on the right.
It allows you to:

Charts
The charts are shown as per the widget configuration for the page. The figures shows represent the two models being compared.
- Number of projects (reduced by the number of projects removed in the simulation)
- Required capacity (no. of resource days required to deliver the projects in the respective model)
- Total investment
- Project count by priority
- Investment by year
'Detail' Tab
This screen allows the selection of sub-tabs showing a variety of charts:
These compare the two models by Investment as well as various Resource Demand related figures, equivalent to charts shown for the current model in the analytics for Investment or Resource Demand.
'Data' Tab
The Data tab lets you select either Investment or Resource Demand to show detailed tabular data views within each. This is the equivalent to Investment 'Data' View and Resource Demand 'Data' View that feature in the Modelling screen for the current model, however now showing data columns for both the current model (Model 1) and the comparison model (Model 2).
